- Your role title/trade within the Building industry:
Junior Contracts Administrator.

- What is involved in training for your role?
In December I completed my Cert IV in Project Management. Now I'm currently studying my Diploma of Management (which focuses more on staff retention, HR and employee engagement principles) which is due for completion in December.
Project Management was an excellent subject to study; it provided me with the innovative tools to effectively manage a project's timeline, budget and resources from start to finish. Implementing these systems is an effective way to streamline the management process whilst tracking accurately.
Apart from these courses I love to keep an eye out for industry specific courses. In February I travelled to Brisbane for the day to attend an eight hour seminar on Preparing Scopes of Works & Specifications.

- How/why did you get into your chosen trade?
The opportunity to be apart of a project from inception to completion was always appealing to me. I've found that If something isn't worth it, I won't do it. It's a waste of energy. So to be able to see a tangible result at the end of all those hours is really rewarding.

- What obstacles have you overcome on your journey into and through the Building industry?
Age. People will not take you seriously if you are under 25.... unless you show them you know what you are talking about.

I've learned that you can't have everything over night (although this still eats away at me!). I definately have the right tools; passion & determination, but in an industry so big you need to set small goals and celebrate when you achieve them. I tend to look at the big picture more but you definately have to pace yourself :(

- Why do you think it is important to establish a name and better recognised opportunities for femles in Building?
Because everyone should have the same platform to work off -individual actions will determine if they fall below or rise above this line.
- What are your goals for the future?
Study Study Study...... liaising, and to keep exposing myself to new working situations.
- Has there been a role model you have looked to for inspiration?
I can look at various people and admire something different in each one. It might be work ethic, sense of humour, vocab, etc.

If you don't like something, change it. If you can't change it, change your attitude!
